yeah, that chick was a little primed, oh well......RIDER UP!!!!!
when suspension fork came out, (remember the Scott Unishock and the Manitou and not to forget RS' mag 21) lots of people were saying it was a huge gimmick, when disc brakes were coming out, (remember the cable actuated hydraulic disc from Hayes?) That was a gimmick too and now, we've turned in the the narrow mined old fart generation who "just pump your arms to absorb the bumps" or "just pump your brakes to control your speed" well actually not me, only the haters are old farts. I love this sport, I'll teach it to my kids, grand kids, neighbors kids, your kids,,,,,,,
baby steps, buddy
you say "earning your turns", so I take it you never use the chairlift and you always say to your buddies " no I'm ok, I'll walk up this one!!" You contradict yourself when you speak and have no argument for this forum....your just bored at home with nothing to do.
I have taken trips to Peru to free ride and DH and I can say this, these bikes would be indispensable in those situations. no lifts endless climbs and breathtaking trails. I would love to go with groups of people on these types of trips but most of the people I know would not want to or be able to climb a freeride bike through the Andes at 3500 meters above sea level, acclimatization is a rough transition enough without the added workout of pedaling a 35lb+ stead. My only worry is, can you jump the bike? I don't mean Redbull style hucking but five foot step downs and the like. Can it take a beating? why do these companies always put the motor and such in a place where a rock can smash it? The guy in the video doesn't jump higher than 6 inches ( if you even call that a jump) and what about water?
It depends on where you want to go I suppose, I live at sea level and the air is pretty thin in the Andes. Some tour companies can benefit from these devices but if the bikes spends most of the time being repaired or on the charging stand its a bit of a hassle. I've read lots of the posts and most of them are just people who want something to laugh at ( that behavior is just silly). These devices are the types of things that get people out of their houses and barricaded beach front resort vacation rituals into vacations that they can actually come back home and show to they're friends and workmates without boring the heck out of them. I don't think this model is tough enough to withstand that much of a beating but its a good start, good luck guys!!!
NEVER CHECKED THE WEIGHT, THE GLORY WAS NOT A LIGHT ONE BACK THEN AND NO I DON'T WANT TO TRADE, SALE ONLY SORRY.
Hello!!
I am the rider from this "crash in action" photo. The rear end of the bike popped up off the jump and well, twenty feet later I ended up with a broken hand. I will never be able to ride normally again. I had to relearn how to write and have to use a prosthetic on my grip. :( Now, every time I see this bridge it breaks my heart.
P.S. to all the LOL's. don't laugh, appreciate the fact that I did it for you. About Us
